Established in 1905, the Bank of West Baton Rouge has always been valued for its friendly, personal service. Inside this community bank, tellers greet walk-in customers by name, loans can be made by telephone, and anyone can stop by for a talk with President and C.E.O. H.J. "Monday" Lowe.

It's the old-fashioned way of doing business, and it's the future of banking. Today, this Port Allen based community bank is extending its tradition of personal service into supermarket banking.

Over the past five years, the Bank of West Baton Rouge has opened full-service locations in six Winn-Dixie Supermarket stores in Baton Rouge and Gonzales and is gaining a competitive advantage in the metropolitan market.

Founded by sugarcane farmers and community leaders in 1905, the Bank of West Baton Rouge opened a two-story wood frame building, and later moved to a red brick building near the levee in Port Allen. Today, the Bank of West Baton Rouge is located in a newer building at 320 N. Alexander Avenue, but it's still the cornerstone of the community. As in the post World War II building boom in Port Allen, customers stop by to do business and exchange news with the tellers and loan officers.

In the 1970s and '80s, bank business continued at a brisk pace, but as land and lots became scarce, the local population stabilized. The Bank of West Baton Rouge expanded its market by opening branches in Brusly and Erwinville, respectively in the southern and western sections of the parish.

In 1992 the bank decided to expand into the capital city using supermarket banking. The Bank's assets doubled from $50 million in 1987 to $100 million in 1995. Currently there are seven bank branches in the city of Baton Rouge itself.

As of today, the Bank has a total of eleven full-service branches ,in addition to the main office, located throughout East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge and Ascension parishes. Our tenth location, a Loan Center 8810 Bluebonnet, Suite A, is now open.

In 1999-2000, the Bank of West Baton Rouge will use its technical expertise to offer customers the latest services they want and will be able to adapt more rapidly to technology changes than larger banks. But no matter how much technology and the times change, the Bank of West Baton Rouge will never waiver from its purpose and that is ... "One-on-One Banking"
